February 23, 2019 By Audrius Brazdeikis

I would like to share with you some exciting news. An illustrated bilingual guide to the common forgeries of Lithuanian stamps just published:

Falsifikatai Lietuvos filatelijoje = Forgeries in Lithuanian philately / Antanas Jankauskas. – Kaunas : A.Jankauskas, 2018. – 464 p. : iliustr.. – ISBN 978-609-475-237-7

The handbook “Forgeries in Lithuanian Philately” by Antanas Jankauskas includes 4500 color illustrations and is an essential guide for all collectors especially those who acquire stamps at online auctions including eBay and Delcampe marketplaces.

An excellent work on the common forgeries of classic and modern Lithuanian stamps (1918-2018), postmarks and special markings. It also includes examples of forgeries of Central Lithuania (Litwa Srodkowa), Memel/Klaipėda, local issues (Telšiai, Gardinas (Grodno), Varviškės (Warwiszki), WWII German occupation issues, Zeppelin mail, etc.

Stamps, printing variants and plate varieties are listed according to the A. Jankauskas’ “Special Lithuanian postage stamp catalogue (1918–2012)”, numbering according to the Michel catalog. Postmarks forgeries are listed closely following numbering of the V. Fugalevičius’ (1992) catalog.

Collectors from the EU countries can purchase the handbook for ca. 82 USD (priority registered mail included). Collectors who live outside the EU countries can purchase the handbook for 88 USD (registered airmail included).

The handbook can be purchased on eBay or by contacting the Author directly.
